Scaffolding Steel Bridge,
Pestressed Concrete Bridge of Lagadas, Thessaloniki
The 12 span prestressed concrete bridge is part of the western internal ring road of Thessaloniki. The bridge consists of to branches that cross the existing Bridge of Lagadas. During the construction of the new bridge the traffic should be unobstructed both for the old bridge and for the adjacent roads of the junction of Lagadas. The design of the Scaffolding Steel Bridge takes into consideration all the above restrictions. The structure has plan dimensions of 42.25m x 10.50m and consists of two main box-truss beams located at the two sides of the bridge to be constructed. Both box-trusses are supported to truss-piers at their two ends as well as to diagonal columns at intermediate points to reduce their unsupported span and at the same time to facilitate side road operation.
The analysis of the Scaffolding Steel Bridge has been performed in construction phases and accounts both for material and geometric non-linearities as well as soil-structure interaction. During construction, monitoring of all intermediate phases has been performed.
