Strengthening of a Preservable Masonry Building in kifisia

The masonry building in Kifisia, Attiki was constructed around 1900. It consists of a two superstructure levels with a three levels tower. Scope of the structural design was the strengthening of the building in order to satisfy the safety levels specified by modern aseismic code regulations as well as the construction of a new reinforced concrete basement level below the existing masonry foundation of the building.

The strengthening scheme included replacement of the mortar in 7cm depth of both sides of load bearing walls, injection grouting of the stone walls and shotcrete of the internal wall faces.

The construction of a new basement has been executed in construction phases, with partial excavations and construction of the foundation slab and walls of reinforced concrete on the perimeter of the structure.
