The water intake tower has a total height of 68m and a circular hollow cross-section of variable thickness (from1.00m to 0.50m). The internal diameter of the tower is 7m and remains constant with height. A room, situated at the top of the tower, serves the maintenance of all hydraulic equipment. The three-span approach bridge has a total length of 140m and for the reduction of the inertia earthquake forces it is constructed of structural steel. The analysis and design of the tower took into account the soil-structure interaction as well as the effect of hydrodynamic forces.
